Works in Progress -- Marbled Paper

There are two traditional methods of making marbled paper: the European method uses vats of water thickened with gums and the pigments gently floated across the top. It requires a steady hand and years of practice. The Japanese method uses oil-based pigments ground to a fine slurry, then dotted across the top, and the patterns developed with surfactants and mechanical manipulation. Only the Emperor could use the marbled paper, and if any "common" folk saw it they were killed because it was too precious an item for them to even see.

I use my own method. I like it.
