You can press flow'rs many ways.     Some from fields and some from glades.
You can press them in a book.     Weeks elapse but don't you look.
You can press them inside cardboard.     Make yourself a little old flower hoard.
Have fun with flow'rs? Oh yes I am!     I think I like dried flow'rs and ham!
with my apologies to Dr. Seuss

General Directions -- Most thin flower blossoms, plants, leaves, and ferns can be pressed. Pick plants in PRISTINE condition after the morning dew has dried completely. It's very important for the plant to be dry. Put the plants between two sheets of white blotter paper, separating each layer with the brown cardboard. The order should be cardboard - paper - flowers - paper - cardboard. Tighten the press and put in a hot dry spot (attic, car trunk, near a heater, etc.) Tighten the press daily for the 1st week or after the addition of plants. More plants can be added at any time but don't separate the sheets of blotter paper for 4 to 6 weeks. This means NO peeking! After 4 to 6 weeks the flowers should be dry and ready to use. Keep dried flowers out of direct sunlight as it will fade the colors.
